Moycullen Historical Society pick up the award for “Best Contribution to Heritage” at Cathaoirleach’s Community Awards 2018.
Thank you to the selectors who thought us worthy of an award, we are most humbly grateful for your recognition of our work. Thank you Cathoirleach Eileen Mannion, Galway County Council, Galway County Public Participation Network and Connemara Blue (the award design is fab and will take pride of place in our Community office ❤️). To the other shortlisted finalists in our group, Milltown Heritage, Co Galway, Headford Lace Project, and Scoil Bhriocain Rosmuc, we would have been proud to have been a runner up to any of you – we thank you for the healthy competition and congratulate you all on your just as worthy projects.
We are a small group working on “half a shoestring!” but it just goes to show what groups such as ourselves can achieve with a love for what you do and an amazing support network. Thank you to the country’s best Heritage Officer Marie Mannion, and the equally wonderful Lorna Louise Elms at The National Museum of Ireland – Countrylife – we appreciate everything you do to help us help ourselves.
