From Genealogy to Global Connections: Moycullen Research at ACIS 2026
The American Conference for Irish Studies (ACIS) took place in Denver, Colorado, from the 27th–31st of May, with this year’s theme exploring “Migration, Labor, and Inclusion in the American Experience: A Comparative Exploration of Past and Present.”
The American Conference for Irish Studies is a multidisciplinary scholarly organisation with approximately 800 members in the United States, Ireland, Canada, and other countries worldwide. Each spring the ACIS holds a national conference attended by 300-400 people from the academic community and the general public.
Brian O’Halloran was both a moderator and contributor to Ireland and the Wider World | SC2500A on Saturday, and is also serving on the organising committee for the conference.
His paper, “Reconnecting Place and People: The Moycullen DNA Project and the Irish Diaspora,” highlighted the powerful connections between genealogy, heritage, place and belonging.
Many of you have interacted with Brian through our genealogy and DNA project over the years, helping reconnect families and stories across generations and continents.
Míle Buíochas a Bhriain as ucht an obair ar fad a ndéanna tú. Ní neart go cur le chéile. To view Brian’s presentation click on the download link.
