in honour of a local historian, of international renown

Bunaíodh Cumann Staire Mhaigh Cuilinn sa bhlian 1995. Tugadh an t-ainm Cumann Staire Ruaidhrí Uí Fhlaitheartaigh air in omós don  staraí agus scoláire cáiliúil a rugadh i Maigh Cuilinn sa seachtú céad déag

Tá sé mar aidhim ag Cumann Staire Ruaidhrí Uí Fhlaitheartaigh  oidhreacht agus stair shaibhir na háite a chaomhnú.

The society was formed in 1995 and named in honour of Ruaidhrí Ui Fhlaitheartaigh, the 17th century Moycullen-born historian and scholar of international renown.

Cumann Staire Ruaidhrí Ui Fhlaitheartaigh’s aim is to preserve and conserve Moycullen’s rich visual, written and aural history. Several books have been published including ‘Maigh Cuilinn A Mhuintir’, several monuments and plaques have been erected and various events have been organised over the years.

Comments about this page

  • My grandfather was a farmer/ land owner there before coming to Massachusetts in the early 1900’s. The family name was Bohan, and my grandmothers name was Kate Faherty. I traveled there in 1995, met relatives, went to the cemetery, and saw her school.
I loved seeing this, than you.
