community spirit

Moycullen Heritage, partnering with our local ICA guild, are very proud to be contributors to The Our Irish Women exhibition now showing at the Courtyard Gallery @ the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Castlebar, as well as on the community archive websites.

our community on a national platform

This is the first network-wide project undertaken by members of the Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN) and it commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act (1918), which extended a limited form of suffrage to women in Ireland for the first time.

Early in 2018, it was decided that each group would research a woman (or women) that had in some way contributed to their community, county or country. These (mostly unknown) stories would then be exhibited in the Courtyard Gallery @ the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, running from 2 October 2018 through to 25 November 2018, after which, the exhibition will travel to each community in the Network.
